The Saga of the Purple Fleece

July 10, 2010 by A Husky Life 1 Comment

When Miss Lily arrived at the urban zoo she came with three garbage bags full of her belongings. In the midst of all her treasures was a medium sized dog fleece. Right away we went looking for Rocco to see how this cute piece of garment would look on him. He would not have any of it, took off running and went straight under the bed – not impressed, to say the least.

We tried a few more times, Vasco even managed to corner him in the hallway, but nope he would not want to have anything to do with it. So we gave up and I decided to give the fleece to the cats to use as a blanket.

Now, I probably should have done this earlier, but let me introduce two of Rocco’s friends: Isis and Rocky. They come to visit and stay with us for a few days at a time.

One day Isis was staying with us and the purple fleece just seemed to be sitting there calling her name.

How's this colour on me?

Oh boy, Rocco was not going to lay around watching Isis wear HIS FLEECE. He goes up to her, grabs by the fleece and tries to pull it off.  Does that remind you of anything? Kindergarten…yup…been there, done that. So I look at Rocco and say: “Fine, I’ll take it off but I’m putting it on you” and he is just sitting there staring at me waiting for his fleece.

Are you sure its on right?

He did not like it one little bit. But hey, it was better than having some other dog wear it!

How do you lay down in this damn thing?!

I'll just sit here until she's gone...

And what do you know, he DID learn his lesson about sharing.

Behold my royal cape!
