The Evil Corporation

July 30, 2010 by A Husky Life Leave a Comment

I have bad news for all those that buy pet food produced by Natura Pet Products – these are the people who make Innova and Evo, amongst other products. They’ve just been bought by Procter & Gamble Co. (sound the Funeral March). The rumors are that P&G will not change the recipes for at least 6 months…and then…?

Word to the wise: in about 6 months from now start reading the ingredient lists and see if your dog, cat or ferret notices any difference. I know Rocco will and it ain’t gonna be pretty.

I have already looked into potential substitute products and been advised to give Orijen a try. The price and quality of the product is equal to Evo, with the only difference being that they are manufactured by a Canadian company. I think that rather than stuffing Procter’s pockets I will slowly transition to Orijen.

This is really sad news as Natura is not the first brand of pet food taken over by P&G. Ten years ago they bought Iams, that was when Iams was still a very good product, and they slowly turned it into, what I would consider, generic mulch consisting mostly of filler.

Here’s an interesting post on this subject: http://truthaboutpetfood.com/articles/a-multi-million-dollar-carrot.html
