First Snow of the Season

December 16, 2012 by A Husky Life 14 Comments

On his Friday hike with Auntie, Rocco had an extra special treat. There was snow on the ground in the North Shore Mountains and he got to run, dig and play in the snow for the first time this season.

As you can see in this video he was extra happy and playful.

On Saturday we had the first snowfall in the city, Rocco was sitting by the window watching the flakes fall, hoping for a winter stroll, but the snow quickly turned into rain. We’ll just have to go back to the mountains.

Watching the first snow in the city.

Nothing happier than a Husky in the snow! Years ago I was a breeder/exhibitor of Siberian Huskies, living in Southern California. We went to a show in Palmdale, in the high desert, and it snowed. The dogs went nuts and it was very hard to get them to behave in the show ring. They had so much fun just playing and being goofy.

    What a happy husky !
He is a lucky one (we’re living at the seaside in the South and, around here, ain’t no snow).
His fur blends in with snowy rocks. No wonder that he enjoys winter stroll.

Rocco loves the beach and the sea too, he loves to swim. Does your husky swim?

Not particularly. Every time we went to the beach, Luna (my husky) rushed on the water, bit the waves for a moment and, when she was tired to struggle against the sea, came back to me. After, she dug holes (or trench, it depends) in the sand. In the end, she was soaked and covered with sand. Lol.

I love the first snowfal too and could sit in front of the window and watch for hours. But I only like it if it’s a BIG snowfall, don’t waste my time on a dusting. 🙂

    Then I’m done with snow.

I hope he gets to play some more!
