Dog Friendly Hiking in Squamish: The Four Lakes Trail.

October 13, 2015 by A Husky Life Leave a Comment

One of our favourite hiking destinations is Squamish. The small town is only a short drive from Vancouver, the scenery is breathtaking and there is an endless number of dog friendly hikes to choose from.

Our go-to hike during fall and winter months is The Four Lakes Trail. We avoid the trail during summer months as it gets very busy with families and novice hikers attracted by the fact the trail is relatively easy and can be customized to ones fitness level.

SQ 10The 1 hour and 20 minute drive from Vancouver to Squamish is nothing short of breathtaking and we make sure to stop along the way to take in the views.

SQ2 SQ5The trail itself is about a 10 minute drive outside of Squamish. Dogs are permitted with the exception of the Alice Lake trail, day use picnic area and beach.

As you navigate the trail, you have the option of circling all four lakes (Alice Lake, Edith Lake, Fawn Lake and Stump Lake), which takes about two hours, or you can take advantage of the looping trails and cater the length of the hike to your own preference.

SQ 11 SQ 12 SQ7 SQ8After the hike you might want to stop in town for lunch or dinner in one of the many restaurants and eateries on the main strip.
