Dog Friendly Trail Around Burnaby Lake

January 13, 2013 by A Husky Life 10 Comments

On Saturday we were treated to a lovely winter day, a much welcome break from the gloomy, rainy weather. It was sunny and crisp, so we decided to explore a new walk. We headed out to Burnaby Lake, a beautiful park, full of on-leash hiking trails – including a 10km walk around the lake. If you are a local or visiting the area, this is a spectacular and dog friendly park (only one trail is off-limits for dogs, as it takes you through a duck nesting area).

In the spring you get to see turtles basking in the sun

Brunette River flows from Burnaby lake and joins Fraser River.

Rocco tried really hard to break the ice in the ditches along the trail.

The trail takes you through tall grasses and bushes.

It also has some wooded parts.

“Brunette River” what a cool name. That looks like a gorgeous place to take a walk, I love when plants and trees make a tunnel on the road. Beautiful!

I love the “living tunnels” as well! It’s one of my favourite walks.

What a beautiful walk. We are all bogged out, so much rain, everywhere is flooded 🙁

I love hiking with the dogs, I told Hubby yesterday I’d love an off-leash park that was fully enclosed but had hiking trails on it. Delilah is such a puller that it is not very enjoyable for me to be dragged through the walk. But I can’t let her off-leash because she will still skive off a recall at times and I can’t risk losing her.

That looks like a beautiful place for a hike.
