Charlie the Hamster

July 30, 2010 by A Husky Life 2 Comments

Internets please meet Charlie. Charlie is a two year old Teddy Bear Hamster and he is the cutest little thing ever! He will be staying at the urban zoo for a month and already he made his preferences known.

The most important thing to him is cleanliness. After he explored his new digs for  bit,  he went back into his cage and instead of going straight to bed, he climbed to the second level of his house, sat on his cute little satellite dish chair and cleaned himself for about 10 minutes. Only then did he walk down and settled for a nap.

Later in the night I went to check up on him and, upon turning the light on, I found Charlie sitting on his chair looking at me disapprovingly…I looked into his cage and, Lo and Behold, there was pee in his toilet corner. Charlie refuses to sleep with a dirty toilet. So I cleaned his toilet and gave him a piece of toilet paper. He took the piece of paper downstairs, covered his head with it, and went to sleep! What a character I tell you!

How long are you going to keep me waiting?!

This cage is far too small for a teddy bear hamster 🙁

Yes, I fully agree with you, Jane. However, Charlie was a guest with us while the owners were away, if he was our fur baby he would definitely have a better enclosure. Quite unfortunate that pet stores are allowed to sell cages (and supplies) that are not appropriate for pets they claim to be intended for.
