Camping at Big Bar Lake

October 13, 2014 by A Husky Life 4 Comments

This summer we took Rocco for his first camping trip. He’s a great travel buddy and has traveled up and down South Cariboo, the width of British Columbia and Washington State, and even did some Island hopping, but he never actually slept in a tent, so we were curious how he’s going to handle this new adventure.

We decided to go back to the Cariboo and settled on the Big Bar Lake as our campground. It was the perfect location. After a busy summer we were looking for a quiet and remote location to really unplug, connect with nature and relax. The campground and the area offered just that. It was remote, picturesque and wild.

The campsite itself is located almost 30km West of Clinton, along a dirt road that leads through cattle ranches. The sites are set up on a hill overlooking the Big Bar Lake. It’s the high country at it’s finest.

The area offers beautiful hiking trails, swimming, fishing and about 10km from the campsite you can find a lovely horse ranch that offers trail ridding.
